ASH READ
drums & vox

The powerhouse behind Colorfields... Ash beat the skins for The Zap Dragons and The Streaks and many other bands before conceiving this project in 1997.
Having grown up on early 80s electronica, followed by a brief yet intense fling with punk, he delved into some pretty serious relationships with ska, psychedelic rock, world music, grunge, psychedelic dub, trip-hop and tribal electronica, whilst always maintaining his one great true love of reggae music.
KERSTIE READ
synth, violin & vox

Influenced by the massive House and Trance grooves of the early millennium, Kerstie joined Colorfields in 1998 and has been the driving force behind the melody and visual content since.
A classically trained harpist and violinist and self-taught keyboard player, Kerstie adds her sonic magic in swirling cinematic layers and grinding crunchy power riffs of synthesized epicness .
She also has perfect pitch, which is fortunate since ash is a touch tone deaf!

2018 was huge for Colorfields because it celebrated Ash and Kerstie's 10 year Wedding anniversary (on the 10th of the 10th!) and their 20 year musical partnership.
"We named our album "Decade" because of the elegant 10 year cycles that have important meaning in our lives'" says Kerstie, "In 2006 we recorded an album that was never released due to the financial responsibilities of starting a new family, and a decade slipped by in a flurry of parental duties, growing a landscaping and tree surgery business, relocating to an offgrid lifestyle outside of Cape Town where we are busy building a house out of natural materials with our own hands."
In 2016 Colorfields was reawakened with a serious new fire at the famous Ruby In The Dust Reunion party. 2016 also marked Ash's decade of freedom from addiction to drugs.
